Overview of the Versant Placement Test (for reference)

• The Versant English Placement Test includes nine item types: 

1. Read Aloud

2. Repeat

3. Sentence Builds

4. Conversations

5. Typing

6. Sentence Completion

7. Dictation

8. Passage Reconstruction

9. Summary & Opinion. 

• Each subtask has strict time limits for prompt response, and partial credit can count (e.g. for pronunciation, fluency, grammar). 

• For speaking tasks (Read Aloud, Repeat, Sentence Builds, Conversations, Summary & Opinion), students are expected to respond promptly, clearly, with good pronunciation, rhythm, and intelligibility. 

• For writing/listening tasks (Dictation, Passage Reconstruction, Sentence Completion, Typing), accuracy, grammar, vocabulary, and completeness matter.
